One of the most difficult aspects of dental practice is not having total control over the fabrication process of the dental appliances which are provided in our offices to the patients. It sounds simple to just complete a work authorization form and send the case to the dental laboratory for return on a date to be delivered to the patient. On the other hand, the process of communication in dentist/dental laboratory relations is extremely important and complex. This section of the “Practice Management Toolkit” will begin to provide some basic answers and guidelines for working with the dental laboratory as a part of the overall dental team.
